Betty is rich; Betty is lonely; Betty’s busy working on her truck; Betty wants to talk about love, but Betty needs to hit something. And Betty keeps using a small hand mirror to stare into parts of herself she’s never examined. Five different women named Betty collide at the intersection of anger, sex, and the “Thea-Tah.”

“Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties is a queer coming-of-self story. Five people, each named Betty, gather to put on a play in the “Thea-tah:” in the process they lust after one another, grow new muscles, and rage at the outside world. Most importantly, they commit the revolutionary act of looking at each other and truly seeing one another. Seeing one another exactly as they are—scabs and ingrown toenails and all—and actively caring for one another. As Betty 1 puts it, the world can be “A Terrible Place To Live.” These Betties show us that the essential balm to their crippling loneliness is as simple as noticing one another. Though these Betties say and do some fairly absurd stuff, they are as real and genuine as you, your BFF, your arch nemesis, and your partner. In that spirit, we invite you to bring your most authentic self to auditions. I cannot wait to meet you in the audition room!”
